Hi everyone, and welcome! I’m so excited to finally be launching this blog for NeoNurture Physiotherapy, where I’ll be sharing news, updates, and hopefully lots of useful support for parents and their babies along the way.
For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Anna Lukens. I’m a specialist paediatric physiotherapist, working with babies and infants under the age of two. I support families through specialist assessment and physiotherapy intervention, and I also run baby massage classes—which I absolutely love.
Baby massage is something I’m really passionate about. It’s such a beautiful way to support bonding, relaxation, and overall wellbeing for both baby and parents. I love being able to promote baby massage alongside physiotherapy, as it complements physical development so well while also creating space for connection, confidence, and calm in those early months.
Since becoming a mum myself, my perspective has shifted in the most meaningful way. Experiencing early parenthood firsthand has really shaped how I work and what I focus on. My real passion now lies in supporting parents and empowering them to feel confident in supporting their baby’s development.
One of the biggest things I see is that many parents don’t realise just how important they are in their baby’s development. Parents are the most powerful influence in a baby’s early life. Showing families how they can support their baby’s growth, movement, and wellbeing through responsive, everyday interactions is incredibly rewarding—and honestly, one of the best parts of my job.
Since starting NeoNurture Physiotherapy, I’ve been lucky enough to run several courses of baby massage classes, and they’ve been so warmly received. Parents have shared such lovely feedback about their experiences (you can find testimonials on my website or over on Instagram @neonurturephysio). I even ran a Christmas special baby massage course, complete with festive treats and little special touches, which was a real highlight!
Alongside classes, I’ve also been seeing babies for Baby MOTs, as well as working regularly with families whose babies need ongoing support. This includes conditions such as head turning preferences, flattening of the head (known as plagiocephaly), torticollis, and more general developmental support—always with a strong focus on guiding parents and giving them practical tools they can use at home.
I’ve also loved hosting a few free events so far, where I’ve had the chance to meet mums and parents in the local community. These sessions are all about offering advice, answering questions, and helping parents know what to look out for—and when it might be helpful to seek extra support for their baby’s development.
Looking ahead, there’s lots to be excited about. I’m currently teaming up with our local Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Jenny Fielding from Mint Wellbeing, for an upcoming event—and I can’t wait to share more details soon. It will be an in-person mum and baby event, offering postnatal support and advice for women as well as guidance for their babies. Definitely one to watch this space for!
For now, that’s a little introduction from me. Thank you so much for showing an interest in NeoNurture Physiotherapy and for being here at the very start of this journey.
