Hi 👋 I’m Anna Lukens. I’m a specialist children’s physiotherapist with over 16 years’ experience working in the NHS. I’ve spent most of my career helping babies and young children with their movement and development, while also supporting the families around them — and it’s something I truly love doing.
I graduated in 2009, then went on to complete a Master’s degree in Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy in 2019. I am trained in various specialist physiotherapy assessment tools, and also became a certified Infant Massage Instructor by the IAIM in 2025.
Over the past 9 years, I’ve specialised further into working with babies under the age of two, with a particular focus on supporting preterm infants. I’ve worked on two of the top neonatal units in London, and I have a real passion for supporting early development — helping babies who may have been born early, unwell, or with additional needs to thrive, and ensuring they have the best possible start and opportunities in life.
As well as my hands-on therapy work, I work in a leadership role for the London Neonatal Network, where I help to ensure that care for premature and unwell babies is consistent, high-quality, and based on the latest research. I’m also Chair of the APCP national neonatal committee that helps guide and support other physiotherapists working with newborns, and I’ve published my own research into early assessment and support for babies who may need extra help with their development.
But just as importantly — I’m a proud mum of two little ones myself! So I really do understand the ups, downs, and constant juggling that comes with having a baby (or two). That’s something I always keep in mind when working with families — making sure any therapy or advice is not only evidence-based, but realistic and supportive for you, too.
At the heart of everything I do is a passion for helping babies grow, move, and thrive — and giving every family the support they need to nurture their little one’s development.
